BBQ & Family on the 4th of July!

The 4th of July has come and gone which has me scratching my head since I have been looking forward to it for quite some time and now it's just...done. It's a stark reminder how fast life seems to be passing me by but I will take it as I am having too much fun and will continue down that path ;)

We stayed home and prepped for a BBQ at our place with included Honey, Tia, Trav/Katie/Brady, Dale/Sheri and Nate/Nicole/Reid/Reece. The weather was fantastic, warm with a breeze, and Grant's BBQ outstanding. We dined on ribs, smoked chicken, baked beans (Nancy), potato salad (Sheri), green salad (Trav), cobbler (Nicole) and drinks (Tia). The kids really enjoyed Reid & Reece and played hard. It was good food and great company to celebrate our country's independence day.

*Side note ~ Baron is still NOT a fan of fireworks. We had really big/loud ones going off over our house and he was less than pleased. "I don't like fireworks Mommy" was what we were hearing as we put him to bed. An hour later (and me snuggling him) he finally fell asleep. The twins we have yet to see if they will share his dislike since they were sound asleep from their day of play.

*2nd side note - I realized much to late that I had forgotten to take a single photo...all...day...long. And I am not happy about it.

Happy Birthday Dad!

Happy Birthday Dad/Papa! Lots of love from us!

Happy Wedding Day Enyo & Sasha!

My beautiful cousin Enyo is now Mrs. Smith! The new Mr. & Mrs. had a beautiful wedding and seem so very happy. We were honored to get to share in their special day and wish them a lifetime of happiness!

P.S. ~ My kids said to tell you they are ready for more cousins ;)

Happy Birthday Grant!

We celebrated Grant's birthday last week and I hope he knows how loved & appreciated he is. He was greeted to a box of his favorite donuts with a hand-written note in the morning (he's out the door before anyone else is up), we met him at work for lunch at the park, wrapped presents when he got home and drink date night with me & Trav/Katie that evening. The kids and I gifted him with a Le Creuset pie plate and pie bird along with some of his favorite candies, Dots.

I love and adore you!

June 8th - 16th

I apologize for my lack of posts lately. My goal is to blog at least a couple times per week and lately I have been unable to meet this goal. Our three very active, lovely children may have something to do with this.....

On June 8th we had the opportunity to party it up with 3 little buddies. First party up was celebrating Henry's 1st birthday at the BGC which included an enormous blowup activity structure/obstacle course. The kids completely loved it and spent the whole time we were at the party playing on it (think red-faced, sweaty from playing, can't get enough awesomeness). The twins were able to climb over/under/thru the whole thing themselves, which actually surprised me a bit since it was that big. We got to enjoy cookies and milk since it was a Cookie Monster theme....so cute!

We left the BGC and headed straight to the next party at the Dodge residence to celebrate Mason & Brock's 5th birthday BBQ. There I got to visit with Jen, Suzi & Ally ~ some of my good friends from high school. My kids enjoyed playing with the other kids, the trampoline and all the goodies Allison baked up. At one point during the party one of the kids came up to their mom (Suzi) and told her "there is a little boy with no pants on peeing in the driveway". Yep, that was my kid. Same friend also told me after playing with the twins (they were jumping off the deck to her) "Wow, your kids have no fear...they just go for it".  Yep we have active, adrenaline junky two-year olds. What are they going to be like when they are teenagers???

By Tuesday, Mav had started having diarrhea and this continued until Saturday. He acted completely fine until Thursday night when he threw up all over me. Friday he slept all day long with me waking him occasionally for food & drink (Mav can't fast due to the RSS) and to change his nasty diapers. Baron got sick on Friday as well, had a little diarrhea and camped out in my bed all day to finally throw up at 6:30 pm. Thankfully I heard him coughing and was able to get to him in time to avoid puke all over my bed. He had a slight fever for about an hour and then he was up and playing outside. He asked for mac & cheese and proceeded to eat two bowls. He never got sick again and was back to normal by Saturday. Saturday morning greeted me with Elliott throwing up in her bed. Thankfully, like Baron, it wasn't a lot but it was still puke. She never acted sick, never had any bathroom issues and was eating like a champ by that evening. Grant also got sick on Saturday and while the flu only lasted about 6-8 hours, he spent the rest of the day in bed with a horrible migraine. By Sunday (Father's Day) everyone else was back to their normal selves. We celebrated Grant with just our little family (didn't want to pass on germs and all) and had steak for dinner. I think he had a good day and was probably just really thankful he wasn't sick anymore ;) Somehow I managed to escape the bug altogether and am thankful for that!

Early Riser

Baron woke up at 6:37 am today, so I had him climb into bed with me and here is how our conversation went down:

B: Mommy, can I watch Mickey Show & Tell?

Me: No, it's too early to have the TV on.

Silence - then we hear the train whistle in the distance

B: Was that the train horn honking?

Me: Yes (trying to pretend to be asleep/sleepy in hopes he will fall back asleep)

B: Mommy, why was the train horn honking?

Me: To let cars & other trains know they are coming

Long Pause.....

B: Mommy, is Baron hungry?

Me: I'm not sure

Another Pause....

B: Mommy, is Baron very hungry?

Me: (giving up on him going back to sleep) Yep, sounds like it. Want to get something to eat?

B: Uh sure, great idea!
