Here is where we are at on day 3: Elliott is now getting 6 ml of milk every 3 hours and may be up to 9 ml by tonight. She still has her IV for added fluids/nutrients and will probably have it for a little bit. She is under the phototheraphy light today and doing good. I held her earlier and Grant had her for the 2:00 feeding. She loves to be snuggled but let's you know if she is unhappy about something. She is a sweet girl!
Maverick is now getting 3 ml of milk every 3 hours and is on the IV as well. He will be on smaller feedings for quite awhile because he is so much smaller. He was put back on the nasal prongs last night because he was breathing a little fast. According to the doctor and nurses, it is not uncommon in preemies for breathing to be great one day and then need a little assistance the next (in the early days). They did a chest x-ray just to be sure and everything looked normal. He is still on phototheraphy as well. I held him for about an hour last night and again at the 2:00 feeding. He is a snuggler as well and like his sister, will let you know if he is unhappy.
Grant is becoming quite the pro at caring for these two. He has mastered the art of changing both their diapers and taking temps. I am a little behind since I've been sitting so much due to surgery. He knows all the different machines and what they are monitoring. If an alarm sounds, he can correct most problems. I am feeling really good today and haven't used the wheelchair at all.
Baron is doing great with Grandma and I get to see him tonight. So looking forward to that.......I miss my little man!
